3.2 Homepage

One of the goals of Moravian's web site was to increase the college's visibility. Thus, the homepage was designed with that purpose in mind. The designers included the photo collage to draw attention to the various aspects of student life, and the news banner was added to highlight upcoming events. Comprehensive sub-sections were added as a means to distribute information to prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni. The form of this site followed the function--to promote and advertise Moravian College.

 

  
 




3.3 Splash page

Many web sites have a splash page--a page that appears before the homepage to establish the company's or organization's identity. Because they lack content, splash pages are controversial site elements. Many users view them as an annoying extra layer and instead, would rather be presented with an index of the site's content.
