Unlike books, which are linear in format, information must be structured
to work in a nonlinear fashion when presented on a web site. How
does a designer construct a successful navigation system or arrange
information in a thoughtful, intelligent order?
The primary task of the web site designer is to understand the
content in order to address the needs of potential users. A successful
web site is, of course, dependent upon the balance of content and
graphics. Along with the visual and structural aspects, writing
issues such as clarity, organization, and interactivity also deserve
attention.
